Ruth is a Registered Social Worker with over 30 years of experience supporting individuals and couples through life’s challenges. She completed her Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto and holds an Honours BA in Criminology, Law, and Psychology from Carleton University.

Growing up in Niagara Falls in a working-class home, Ruth’s early experiences deeply shaped her commitment to this work. With a father who survived the Holocaust and fled Poland, and later losing him at a young age, Ruth learned first-hand how trauma can influence the choices we make in life. These experiences inspire the compassion, care, and authenticity she brings to her practice today.

Ruth works from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens, believing that people are the experts in their own lives. She specializes in supporting survivors of trauma, including childhood and adult abuse, sexual violence, domestic violence, and systemic oppression. She also has extensive experience supporting individuals living with anxiety, depression, family conflict, suicidal thoughts or self-harm, and those navigating involvement with the justice system.

Ruth brings warmth, respect, and curiosity to her work, meeting each person where they are on their journey. She believes in the importance of balance between mind, body, and spirit, and practices this in her own life. Beyond her clinical work, Ruth has facilitated groups, taught at both the college and university level, and provided clinical supervision and mentorship to other social workers.

As a lifelong learner, Ruth is committed to reflection, unlearning, and growth. She is an ally to 2SLGBTQIA+ and racialized communities and strives to create a space where every part of a person’s identity is honoured.
